Who is Douglas

Douglas Muir joined Investing Ethically in March 2022, having worked in a range of financial services positions over the last decade. After graduating from university, Douglas was employed in Switzerland with a wealth management firm based in Geneva. After returning to the UK, he worked in the East Midlands and London in several roles which included advice, sales, client relations, and administration.

Living locally in Norwich, Douglas commutes to work by bike and enjoys swimming as well as cycling.

Fact

Douglas did his degree in Drama and performed in an award nominated short radio play; a bleak, dark comedy which was described as ‘more funny than gloomy, but only just’.

Douglas was a part of his university’s Circus Skills Society; coaching new members in performance skills including fire breathing. Instead of running away to join the circus, he decided to shirk the old cliché and instead ran away to join the financial services sector.

Douglas has completed a climb of each mountain included in the Three Peaks Challenge (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis), with a personal best time of just under 12 years.

I’m very happy working for Investing Ethically; the culture is supportive and friendly, and the work is always varied and interesting. It’s always rewarding to be helping clients with their financial affairs, and the extra dimension of taking ethics into account makes the work even more engaging. Things often ramp up quite significantly towards tax year end when more help is needed, but that’s what we’re here for!
