About Investing Ethically
Who we are
Investing Ethically Ltd was established by Alan Kirkham in 2000 as a business which followed his Quaker beliefs and his passion for ethical investment. The company has it’s own set of principles which are shared by all that work here, and therefore when Alan retired from the company in 2012 the existing members of staff used their knowledge and experience to continue running the business. Investing Ethically Ltd is owned and run by the advisers and support staff, which means you will always deal with a business owner, giving you a committed and personal service.
The company is democratically run with all decisions made at our monthly business meetings by a majority, as no one director has more influence than any other. All advisers are fully qualified and came to work at Investing Ethically Ltd with a background and keen interest in environmental and social issues. Key functions and responsibilities are shared equally by all Directors.
We are a team of independent financial advisers (IFAs) and support staff, with a combined industry experience of 30+ years. Being independent is important to you as IFAs are the only type of financial advisers who are able to select from all the products and investments available in the marketplace. We offer advice on ethical investments to individuals, businesses and charities and being IFAs means we can give truly independent advice on ethical investments tailored to suit your needs.
Investing Ethically Ltd is based in Norwich, Norfolk however we travel to all parts of the country. We currently have clients from Scotland to Cornwall and the first consultation is at our expense and without obligation. Where it is not possible to meet we can offer advice via emails, telephone, post and Skype.

The Ethical Investment Association is a group of ethical specialist IFAs who meet regularly to develop their understanding of ethical investment issues.
The UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association is an industry-wide grouping campaigning for a more ethical and sustainable approach to investment in the UK.
The Chartered Insurance Institute are a professional body who promote higher standards of integrity, technical competence and business capability

The Quaker method of conducting meetings for business and arriving at decisions is quite different from the way most businesses handle their decision-making process.

The World Development Movement is UK based and campaigns against the root causes of poverty.
Freedom From Torture -they work with survivors of torture. They assist, protect and promote the rights of torture survivors living in the UK.
The Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) in the UK works to end the international arms trade, which has a devastating impact on human rights and security, and damages economic development.
ETA is an ethical motoring organisation and sustainable travel lobby group.
Foundation East is an Industrial and Provident Society providing Business Finance in the East of England.
At Triodos Bank, they believe that profit doesn’t need to be at the expense of the world’s most pressing environmental problems.
The Greenhouse Trust, an environmental centre based in Norwich. Their website contains information on environmental issues.
The Naturesave Trust was set up in 1995 to fund specific environmental and conservation projects throughout the UK. The primary function of the Trust is to encourage the greater adoption of sustainable development, especially within the Small and Medium Sized business community (SMEs).
Centre for Alternative Technology is an education and visitor centre demonstrating practical solutions for sustainability. They cover all aspects of green living: environmental building, eco-sanitation, woodland management, renewable energy, energy efficiency and organic growing.
